ICAW & CIC: International Compost Awareness Week - May 2018 PDF Stampa E-mail

The Italian Composting and Biogas Association (CIC) joins and supports the International Compost Awareness Week (ICAW), the largest and most comprehensive education initiative of the compost industry.

The 2018th edition of the ICAW will be from May 6 - 12.

The goal of the program is to raise the awareness of the public regarding the benefits of using compost to improve or maintain high quality soil, to grow healthy plants, reduce the use of fertilizer and pesticides, improve water quality and protect the environment.

The Italian Composting and Biogas Association (CIC) unites public and private compost producers, local authorities and others involved in compost production, like machinery and equipment constructors, growing media producers, research bodies, etc.

The association represents Italy's biggest sector for recycling MSW separated at source and is among the most successful organisations in Europe engaged in producing compost and biogas for organic waste.

Italian Composting and Biogas Consortium - CIC will take part in Ecomondo Fair with "La piazza del Compost" (Compost Square), a stand hosting CIC members and European Compost Network. CIC is pleased to host BioCycle as well, the U.S. reference magazine of biowaste recycling sector. The stand will also include a small "conference room" where CIC carries out activities to promote the use of compost (workshops and transplantation labs) and CIC members can organise workshops on technology innovations and show Research&Development results.

The main event regarding biowaste and composting during the Ecomondo 2017 will be the XIX National conference on Composting and Anaerobic Digestion, organised by CIC in partnership with ECN and the Italian Environmental Agency on Nov 9th. The conference will be dived into a plenary session (a.m.) and a technical session (p.m.). The conference is intended to update composting experts, waste managers, local authorities and decision makers about the biowaste management current situation and the outlook for separate collection of biowaste, composting, anaerobic digestion, products of biowaste recycling etc.

CIC experts and technical staff will also be involved as qualified speakers in different workshops and seminars during Ecomondo Fair in Rimini.

Biogas Channel visits the 300'000 tpa biogas plant BIOMAN PDF Stampa E-mail

Biogas Channel is the first and only web video channel dedicated to biogas in all its applications. Created in 2013 from an editorial initiative developed and endorsed by AB, the most important international company specialised in cogeneration, it has now been fully revamped, meaning it is more complete and functional.

This week Biogas Channel presents the Bioman Spa, a combined biogas and composting plant located in North-East of Italy.Look at the video about Bioman


Bioman treats up to 285'000 tpa of food- and green waste sorted by households and commercial activities. The facility is a member of CIC - the Italian Composting and Biogas Association and the compost is produced according to CIC's QAS on compost.


Currently Bioman produces Biogas for the needs of a 20'000 inhabitants city and soon will be link to a district-heating systems so to use the excess heat produced at the facility.
